The modest Maya Motel in Temescal will be converted into supportive housing for formerly homeless residents using $17.6 million in state, city, and county funds.
The project is the 10th in Oakland to receive funding through California’s Homekey program. Launched early in the COVID-19 pandemic, Homekey supports the redevelopment of hotels and other existing buildings into permanent supportive housing.
