Man with weapon shot by San Francisco police on Highway 101

Several lanes of northbound Highway 101 were closed Thursday after a police shooting near Cesar Chavez Street in San Francisco, authorities said.

According to San Francisco police, officers were assisting sheriff’s deputies around 11:19 a.m. regarding a man walking on the freeway. When officers contacted the subject near the Cesar Chavez Street offramp, he produced an edged weapon, and an officer-involved shooting occurred, authorities said. One SFPD officer was involved.

Police said officers rendered aid, and paramedics transported the man to a hospital. His condition was not immediately known. No one else was injured…
