Man accused in Bay Area crash that left 6 dead had prior DUI convictions

The man charged with murder in a crash that left six people dead in Napa Valley this weekend had past DUI convictions and was reportedly driving on a suspended license.

Norberto Celerino, 53, had been prosecuted multiple times for DUI charges in San Joaquin County, according to Erin Haight, a spokesperson for the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office. In October 2024, Celerino pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving with a high blood alcohol content and having a prior DUI conviction, Haight confirmed. Earlier this month, his probation related to the 2024 DUI charge was reinstated after he was arrested on domestic violence charges.

Celerino is facing charges of murder, felony DUI and causing injury while intoxicated after the minivan he was allegedly driving crashed into a tree on Sunday.
