San Francisco woman ID’d in fatal San Jose scooter hit-and-run

Authorities have identified the woman killed in a hit-and-run collision near the SAP Center in San Jose on Monday as Monica Ibarra, 52, of San Francisco.

Police said Ibarra was riding an electric scooter around 8 a.m. when she entered the crosswalk at Santa Clara and Cahill streets. As she crossed northbound, investigators said, she was struck by a black 2021 Ram pickup truck driven by a man.

The driver fled the scene immediately after the collision, according to the San Jose Police Department. The pickup was later discovered abandoned. Authorities said Tuesday that the vehicle had been reported stolen and that the driver had not been identified…
