4.3 magnitude earthquake centered in Berkeley jolts S.F. Bay Area awake

An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 jolted the San Francisco area awake shortly before 3 a.m. on Monday.

The earthquake was centered in Berkeley, several blocks south of the University of California campus, according to the United States Geological Survey. An intense shake was felt widely.
