(KRON) — Two suspects who were being tracked by a California Highway Patrol aircraft were caught on video assaulting and robbing two separate victims on the streets of Oakland before their arrests, authorities said Thursday.
CHP’s Air 37 aircraft was tracking a stolen vehicle in Oakland during a recent Crime Suppression Detail while providing location updates to ground units, according to CHP. While keeping an eye on the stolen car, suspects were seen getting out of the vehicle and assaulting a person who was walking on the sidewalk. Authorities said the victim was robbed before the suspects got back into the car and drove off.
As ground units were responding, the CHP air crew saw the suspects get out of the car and assault and rob a second victim before fleeing again in the stolen car.
Responding police on the ground attempted to pull over the suspects, but the driver fled at high speeds, CHP said. The pursuit was terminated for safety. Eventually, the driver parked and ran on foot…
