Park Street Bridge Closed After CHP Chased ‘Violent Felony Suspect’ Through Alameda

When the Park Street Bridge closes, it’s big news in Alameda. With the presence of California Highway Patrol officers, flashing red lights, and sirens, social media was ablaze with questions about what actually happened on Tuesday night, September 23, when the bridge was closed.

A City of Alameda report posted on Facebook at 7:55 p.m. stated: “The Park Street Bridge is closed and will remain closed for an extended period of time tonight. California Highway Patrol is on scene and has made an arrest. Please avoid the area and use a detoured route.”

This was not an Alameda Police Department action, and the California Highway Patrol didn’t issue a public statement.

Several people on social media said they saw the car speeding around Alameda with the CHP chasing it. One person posted on reddit, “I was stuck on the Oakland side right before 7 p.m., wondering what was going on. Then like a minute later, a man ran past my car with two cops and a K9 following him.”…
