In an incident that highlights the ongoing challenges with firearm recovery in Oakland, OPD officers early this month encountered more than what they bargained for during a routine medical response call. As reported on their social media page, officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Broadway, where an individual urgently needed medical attention. It was last Saturday when officers received reports of an unconscious man bleeding from his lip on the sidewalk.
