Second San Francisco hit-and-run in 24 hours leaves one dead

A pedestrian was killed early Saturday in a hit-and-run collision in San Francisco’s Bernal Heights neighborhood, police said — a second serious crash involving a fleeing driver in less than 24 hours.

At around 2:10 a.m., officers responded to reports of a collision at Cortland and Anderson streets, according to the San Francisco Police Department. When officers arrived, they found a victim suffering from severe injuries in the street.

“Officers rendered aid and medics arrived on scene who transported the victim to the hospital for life threatening injuries,” police said in a statement. “Despite the lifesaving efforts of first responders and medical staff the victim succumbed to the injuries.”

Investigators determined the pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the driver. No arrests have been made, police said…
