California is set to experience a tumultuous start to the winter season, with a barrage of stormy weather to sweep the state at the beginning of this week.
A strong Pacific storm will bring heavy rain, thunderstorms, and snow to the Sierra Nevada from Monday through Tuesday, in the first statewide system of the new season.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Tahoe region, which goes into effect at 11 a.m. Monday until 11 a.m. Wednesday. Heavy snowfall will likely impact travel in the Sierra next week, especially through mountain passes.
