Teen arrested in connection to Fruitvale BART shooting

(KRON) — A teenager has been arrested in connection to a non-fatal shooting at Fruitvale BART Station last month, according to the BART Police Department. The shooting occurred aboard a train on the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 16.

The 16-year-old victim was left with non-life-threatening injuries and taken to the hospital. At the time of the shooting, BART PD identified a person of interest who was later determined to have not been involved.

On Wednesday, BART PD announced that a 15-year-old has been taken into custody in connection to the incident, which took place as the train was approaching Fruitvale Station. Police say that a charging packet has been submitted to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office and the teen is facing charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and willful discharge of a firearm.
