Iconic Black-owned Oakland restaurant targeted in another vandalism incident

OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) — Everett and Jones Barbecue, a well-known Black-owned restaurant in Oakland, was broken into early Saturday morning, marking the fifth such incident since 2023.

The break-in occurred at around 4 a.m. when three masked men smashed their way into the restaurant on MacArthur Boulevard. Despite causing significant damage, the suspects left empty-handed, finding no cash in the register.

“They did more damage than what they got. They didn’t get anything,” said Nena Moore, co-owner of Everett and Jones Barbecue. “And it’s frustrating because we can’t sleep at night — it keeps happening.”…
