4 adults, 1 child rescued after boat overturns in Bay Area waters

Five people, including a 6-year-old child, were rescued after their boat overturned in Tomales Bay over the weekend.

Crews on Saturday responded to a report about several people who fell in the water at the mouth of Tomales Bay near Tomales Point in “rough ocean conditions,” the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post. The call came in at 11:53 a.m. from someone on the shore, Emily Fuller, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, told SFGATE.

Deputies were able to spot some of the boaters in the water from a helicopter called Henry-1, the sheriff’s office said, and began an “extensive search” of the ocean and nearby coastline. Eventually, two people who made it to a remote beach on their own were located…
