Six arrested as deputies seize $1M in stolen goods in Bay Area retail theft bust

A large-scale organized retail theft and fraud operation that trafficked in stolen merchandise and leveraged a nationwide gift card scheme exploiting older victims was dismantled, authorities said.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office began tracing thefts in June and uncovered a network operating across the Bay Area and beyond.
