Century-old SF seafood restaurant’s building has been sold for $8M

The Polk Street building that has housed the legendary and sometimes controversial Swan Oyster Depot for over a century has been sold to a new owner, as first reported by the San Francisco Standard. It sold for nearly $8 million, brokers Clinton Textor and Angelo Baglieri of real estate agency Marcus & Millichap confirmed to SFGATE.

Aside from the historic San Francisco seafood joint, the property on Polk and California is also home to 29 apartments and four other retail units, including restaurants Nara and Ti Piacera Ristorante and wine bar Ora, the Standard reported. The new owner is “a very experienced multifamily investor in SF,” Textor told SFGATE via email.

“I expect the new owner will do everything possible to keep the existing retail tenants in place, as they have been tenants here for decades,” Textor wrote. “Most of the retail tenants have multiple years remaining on their leases, so I don’t expect any wholesale changes in the coming months.”…
