New evidence reopens Modesto native Zachary Jackson’s 1993 murder case

MODESTO, Calif. — The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office has reopened the 1993 murder case of Zachary Jackson following the discovery of new evidence.

Jackson, a 30-year-old native of Modesto, was found shot to death inside his home in unincorporated Hayward on June 17, 1993. The case has remained unsolved for more than 30 years.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit, working in partnership with the Modesto Police Department and three other law enforcement agencies, say they have developed new leads based on recently uncovered evidence…
