The San Francisco District Attorney’s office recently announced a conviction in a high-profile drug case involving the sale of fentanyl and cocaine base. Sebastian Garcia, 31, faced charges for drug dealing in Hallidie Plaza, right by the bustling Powell Street BART Station. According to a press release from District Attorney Brooke Jenkins, a jury found Mr. Garcia guilty of the sale of a controlled substance and two counts of possession for sale.
“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial,” said Jenkins, per the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office. “The jury’s verdict holds Mr. Garcia accountable and my message to drug dealers and their enablers is simple – we will not relent.” Undercover police officers caught Garcia on July 9, when he sold them drugs during a sting operation. Upon his arrest, both drugs and the money from the undercover buy were found on Garcia.
The successful prosecution was a team effort, with Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Jimenez leading the charge, supported by a group of legal professionals.
