Bay Area man with two previous drug convictions arrested with meth, police say

San Mateo officers on a late-night patrol arrested a 64-year-old man on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, police said.

The office contacted two men at a gas station on the 1900 block of South Delaware Street at 11:53 p.m. Thursday, according to the San Mateo Police Department, which did not immediately respond to an inquiry on the reason for the contact.

During the contact, officers searched San Mateo resident Darren Stuart, who was holding an orange prescription bottle containing a plastic bag with a crystalline substance that later tested positive for meth, the police department said. They also located two glass smoking pipes containing burned residue — one in his pants pocket and another inside the center console of his vehicle, police said…
