‘You’re hurting me’: Family sues after Bay Area woman, 72, dies after arrest

The family of a 72-year-old woman who died after a confrontation with police accused officers of violently arresting her, according to a claim filed Monday.

In a government tort claim obtained by SFGATE, attorney Melissa Nold filed on behalf of Rudolfo Ramirez, alleging in the filing that his wife Yolanda Ramirez was “violently arrested” while driving to her brother’s home in Brentwood on Sept. 26, 2025, to take him to a medical appointment.

“Upon her arrival … nobody answered the door,” the claim stated. “Mrs. Ramirez was calling into the house, trying to get her brother’s attention. Brentwood Police Department was summoned to the home, for unknown reasons.”…
