The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office has honored three Good Samaritans whose quick action saved an AC Transit bus driver during a violent attack near the Richmond BART Station in August.
At a ceremony on Friday, Nov. 7, Sheriff David Livingston recognized Joseph Hoberg, Ivan Munguia, and Mark Quintero with commendations for citizen heroism, praising their “extraordinary bravery and decisive action” when they intervened to stop the assault and protect the driver’s life.
According to prior reports on the August incident, the driver was attacked around 7:35 am aboard a bus just outside Richmond BART.
Authorities later described the case as a domestic violence incident and identified the suspect as 54-year-old Mandingo Hayes of Richmond. He was arrested and subsequently charged with attempted murder; the driver was treated at a hospital…
