Tesla driver suffering mental health crisis slams into Peninsula home: PD

(KRON) — A speeding car crashed into a home at 399 Thatcher Lane in Foster City shortly after midnight Sunday.

Officers responding to the crash found the driver, a 29-year-old woman, sitting on the ground near the wreck “in a state of acute emotional and physical distress,” the Foster City Police Department said.

The Tesla was “traveling at a high rate of speed before crashing through a backyard fence and through the side of the home,” Foster City PD said. The car ultimately stopped after crashing into a light pole near the home’s front yard.

Three people were asleep inside the home at the time of the crash. None of the residents were injured. The driver suffered a few scrapes and a collarbone injury.

“After being evaluated on scene by police and medical personnel, it was determined that the driver was experiencing a mental health crisis,” the police department said.

The driver was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. She is not suspected of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash…
