A much-anticipated, 40,000-square-foot Japanese grocery store is finally arriving at a Bay Area mall.
Tokyo Central will open at Bay Street Emeryville on Jan. 31, according to an Instagram post, with Japanese groceries, snacks, produce and prepared foods like sushi. The Bay Street store will also have an “upscale” Japanese restaurant; details about it have not yet been released.
A slew of huge Asian grocery stores are set to open throughout the Bay Area in 2026, including multiple outposts of T&T Supermarket and Osaka Marketplace. When it opens, Tokyo Central will be the only Asian supermarket in Emeryville…
