Oakland man arrested in San Jose trafficking sting as part of Super Bowl operations

(KRON) — An Oakland man was arrested as part of a human trafficking enforcement operation in north San Jose in advance of the Super Bowl. The proactive operation was conducted last Thursday, Nov. 20 by the San Jose Police Department Human Trafficking Task Force.

In the operation, 29-year-old Roberto Edwards of Oakland was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for pimping and pandering. Another man was taken into custody for soliciting, police said.

SJPD said the enforcement was carried out as part of the department’s expanded human trafficking strategy leading up to Super Bowl 60.

“Historically, major events of this scale has drawn increased commercial sexual exploitation in host cities. Recognizing these risks, SJPD has intensified its enforcement through targeted operations aimed at identifying survivors, interrupting trafficking activity, and deterring individuals who contribute to the demand for commercial sex,” SJPD said in a statement…
