London Breed, San Francisco’s first Black woman mayor, has been inducted into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In the fall of 2025, Breed joined the Delta Zeta Omega Chapter. The chapter recognized Breed for her work in advocacy, equity, and empowerment. Chapter leaders stated that her values align with the sorority’s mission of service.
Breed was inducted with three other women: Brittany Rae Nelson, an engineer and investor; Malia Cohen, California’s first Black woman State Controller; and Tamara Sisk, an interior designer and civic engagement advocate. Nile Taylor, president of the Delta Zeta Omega Chapter, said the new members’ experience will benefit the chapter and the wider sorority.
