Teen arrested in ‘outlandish’ triple shooting at Bay Area mall

LATEST Dec. 1, 5 p.m. San Jose authorities said they believe an alleged conflict between rival gangs led to a shooting inside Westfield Valley Fair mall on Friday that injured three people. The 17-year-old suspect was arrested Sunday at a home in San Jose, Paul Joseph, the San Jose Police Department’s police chief, said in a Monday afternoon news conference.

Joseph said a group of individuals, including the suspect, entered the mall Friday afternoon wearing gang-related clothing. At the time, the teenager was accompanied by a 21-year-old woman pushing a child in a stroller, who was less than 2 years old, Santa Clara County County District Attorney Jeff Rosen said during the news conference.
