A Waymo passenger shared a terrifying near-miss after a self-driving taxi suddenly swerved into traffic, leaving him convinced a crash was moments away. The frightening incident unfolded in San Francisco on Tuesday, Dec. 9, and was captured on video from inside the autonomous vehicle.
Chris Riotta Rogers was riding in the back seat of a Waymo on Noe Street when the car abruptly pulled out onto the road. Another vehicle was already approaching, and the Waymo appeared to move directly into its path.
Footage taken by Rogers showed him clicking to start his ride just before the vehicle began to pull forward. Almost immediately, he screamed as another motorist blasted their horn, signaling how close the situation became.
“I already almost got into a car accident. Oh my God. I am never doing this again,” Rogers said in the video as the danger passed…
