S.F. police detain man who barricaded himself in Palace Hotel after hours-long standoff

A person was barricaded inside the Palace Hotel in downtown San Francisco Saturday afternoon as police tried to de-escalate the situation.

Firefighters responded to the scene around noon after a report of shots fired and a person in a room threatening violence. They closed a portion of Market Street between Annie Street and New Montgomery Street. Police said they received the report of shots fired at 12:16 p.m.

“Officers responded to the scene and located a possible suspect in the building. The suspect has refused to comply to officers commands to exit. There are no reports of injuries at this time,” SFPD said. “Parts of the building that are affected by the incident have been evacuated.”…
