Ex-nonprofit workers charged with defrauding San Francisco homeless shelter

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Two former employees of a nonprofit organization were charged this week with defrauding a San Francisco homeless shelter and stealing more than $115,000 in city funding, prosecutors announced.

Kenisha Roach, 41, served as Director of Operations for a nonprofit, Providence Foundation, and a city homeless shelter, Oasis Family Shelter. Robert Lacy Jr., 47, worked as a client engagement manager for Providence Foundation and had an unlicensed contracting business.

Prosecutors said the duo carried out a kickbacks scheme in between June and September of 2022. Roach allegedly approved hiring Lacy and his business, Will Do It Construction, to perform over $115,000 in improvements at Oasis Family Shelter on Franklin Street, investigators said…
