93-year-old turns himself in after allegedly fatally shooting spouse in Fremont parking lot

A 93-year-old man allegedly fatally shot his spouse in their car and then immediately turned himself in to police, according to the Fremont Police Department.

Officials said Richard Hocking called 911 on Saturday morning to report that he’d shot his spouse in a shopping center parking lot near the intersection of Mowry Avenue and Blacow Road. When police arrived, they found Hocking standing outside a vehicle. Inside the vehicle was a gun and Hocking’s dead 86-year-old spouse sitting in the passenger seat, according to the police department.

Hocking allegedly confessed to the reason for killing his spouse to authorities and was booked into Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of murder. Jail records show Hocking is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday morning…
