Elderly mother hospitalized after son’s violent attack in Hercules: PD

(KRON) — Police in Hercules responding to an emergency domestic violence call on New Year’s Day found an elderly mother beaten and covered in blood while her son barricaded himself in a vehicle, according to police.

Hercules Police Department dispatchers received a 911 call at around 9 p.m. from a woman who was yelling for help. The woman was not responding to dispatch’s questioning, but she stated that her 44-year-old son was hitting her, according to authorities.

Officers first responded to the 100 block of South Wildwood before discovering the two lived in the 200 block of Devonwood located nearby. En route, police found the mother and son inside a vehicle parked on the curb of Village Parkway.

“Officers were soon able to direct the victim out of the vehicle, who was distraught and covered in blood,” Hercules PD wrote. “It was learned that the subject had repeatedly hit the victim with his fists, pulled a large amount of her hair out, and attempted to prevent her from calling 911.”…
