San Francisco Man Jailed Without Bail In Chilling Child Trafficking Case

Jaquain Burton, 30, has been ordered held without bail in San Francisco after prosecutors accused him of trying to recruit a minor for commercial sex and arranging to pick up the youth. He was arraigned in San Francisco Superior Court on felony charges and entered a plea of not guilty. Prosecutors argued he posed a public safety risk, and the judge agreed to keep him in custody while the case moves forward. Officials have not disclosed the minor’s age or how the alleged conduct first came to law enforcement’s attention.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Burton faces two counts of human trafficking of a minor and one count of pandering by encouraging a minor to engage in commercial sex. Court documents state that Burton allegedly arranged to pick up the minor on Jan. 8 and told the youth to keep their plans secret.
