Peet’s Coffee is closing numerous shops across the Bay Area

Berkeley-born coffee chain Peet’s is slashing its presence in the Bay Area.

A Peet’s spokesperson confirmed that the company is closing multiple locations by the end of the month, but did not specify where or how many. Managers at two San Francisco Peet’s locations confirmed the imminent closing of their stores, which they said are among roughly 30 Bay Area shops that will shutter. The final day of business for both locations, at 919 Cole St. in Cole Valley and 2257 Market St. in the Castro, will be Jan. 30.

“These closures reflect a broader effort to align our business with long-term growth priorities and current market conditions,” the Peet’s spokesperson told the Chronicle. “We are deeply grateful to our incredible employees and loyal customers for their continued commitment to the brand.
