(KRON) — Officers were investigating several reports of a person armed with a firearm in public on Thursday afternoon along with calls of an armed suspect asleep inside a vehicle, according to the Oakland Police Department.
Overall crime on BART drops 41%, assaults rise
The incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. on the 2700 block of Fruitvale Avenue.
“When officers arrived, they located the individual who had attempted to leave the area before surrendering,” said OPD. “The individual was taken into custody, and a loaded firearm was recovered from the vehicle.”
