Allbirds, shoe brand beloved of tech bros, closing last SF store

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A shoe brand that was once de rigueur footwear for the tech industry is closing its last remaining San Francisco store. Allbirds, a modern lifestyle footwear brand with a global footwear, announced plans Wednesday to close its remaining full-price U.S. stores by the end of February.

That includes the brand’s last SF store in SF’s Hayes Valley. The closures, according to a news release from the brand, will enable “Allbirds to dedicate resources toward its e-commerce platforms, wholesale partnerships and international distributorships.”

“This is an important step for Allbirds, as we drive toward profitable growth under our turnaround standards,” said Allbirds CEO Joe Vercachio. “We have been opportunistically reducing our brick-and-mortar portfolio over the past two years.”
