New curfew law could result in $1,000 fines as businesses must close early

San Francisco shoppers and businesses are reacting to officials moving to expand a curfew program that requires certain businesses in high-crime areas to close early.

On Thursday, Jan. 22, the Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Committee voted unanimously to endorse legislation introduced by District 6 Supervisor Matt Dorsey and District 5 Supervisor Bilal Mahmood that would expand on an existing curfew pilot program in the Tenderloin, which was set to expire in July.
