The threat of seismic activity looms large over several cities in the U.S. Roughly 75% of the country is at risk of experiencing potentially damaging earthquakes and severe ground shaking, endangering the lives of millions of people, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
The risk of earthquakes is higher along the central and northeastern Atlantic Coastal corridor, and in seismically active areas of California and Alaska, according to USGS.
