A skier died Thursday after a catastrophic fall on one of Mammoth Mountain’s steepest expert runs — a headfirst slide witnesses said stretched hundreds of yards beneath a chairlift filled with onlookers.
Resort officials confirmed the death Friday to the Los Angeles Times. It is the fourth fatality reported at the Eastern Sierra ski area this season.
