San Leandro City Council Member Bryan Azevedo was set to retire from his post effective Tuesday, the day before he was scheduled to change his plea in a federal corruption case linked to recalled Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao, city officials announced.
San Leandro officials said in a statement on Monday that they received a “formal letter of retirement” from Azevedo, who was first elected in November 2020. Azevedo did not respond to requests for comment.
