A former San Francisco official is trying to pause a City Hall inquiry into her alleged impropriety, arguing that it should occur after local prosecutors finish their criminal investigation into her tenure and decide whether to charge her.
The San Francisco Ethics Commission case against former San Francisco Human Rights Commission Executive Director Sheryl Davis could result in her paying tens of thousands of dollars over her alleged conflicts of interest with various city-funded groups.
But Davis, who has beefed up her legal team, is threatening to take the San Francisco Ethics Commission to court if it proceeds with the case, saying that doing so would infringe on her constitutional rights because the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office is criminally investigating her.
