Mayor Daniel Lurie’s wife, Becca Prowda, unveils her most public initiative as S.F. first lady

Becca Prowda, San Francisco’s politically connected first lady, has kept a relatively low public profile since her husband, Mayor Daniel Lurie, took office early last year. But she’s preparing to change that this summer.

On July 11, Prowda and Lurie will host a day of service in which they’ll encourage residents to volunteer at various projects across San Francisco. Lurie’s office said Wednesday that the event, dubbed “One City Day,” will include kickoff gatherings at parks in each of the city’s 11 supervisor districts.

Details are still being finalized, but an early list of community partners released by the mayor’s office indicates that at least part of the focus will be on trash pickups, distributing food to low-income residents and providing help for homeless people.
