More than 800 roosters were seized this week during a search of a Sonoma County property tied to alleged animal abuse and a suspected cockfighting operation, authorities said.
A 30-year-old Santa Rosa resident was arrested on animal cruelty charges and additional counts related to bird fighting. He was later released on pre-trial supervision, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said its Rural Crimes Task Force served a warrant Wednesday on the 3000 block of Stony Point Road.
