Two San Francisco firefighters were sued in connection with a bar fight in North Beach late last year, where the plaintiff said the pair violently attacked him while wearing fire department-branded hats and T-shirts.
The lawsuit, filed last week in San Francisco, alleges that firefighters Eigil Qwist, Patrick Rabbitt and other unnamed defendants hit and kicked the man in the body and face even while he was laying on the ground. The plaintiff, David Gallegioni, said the assault stemmed from an earlier confrontation between Gallegioni’s family and the firefighters, after Gallegioni’s daughter reported one of the men had intentionally touched her buttocks.
Qwist is also facing a criminal case tied to the incident: San Francisco prosecutors charged him with misdemeanor counts of assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury and battery.
