One of San Francisco’s best pizzerias is closing after 10 years

After a decade in Union Square, one of San Francisco’s most lauded pizzerias is closing. Del Popolo plans to serve its final wood-fired pizza at 855 Bush St. on May 8, the restaurant announced on Instagram over the weekend.

“It’s with mixed emotions, but above all, deep appreciation, that I share the news that we’ll be closing the restaurant later this spring,” read the Instagram post. “Months of reflection haven’t lessened my ambivalence, but ultimately it feels like the right decision and the right path.”

SFGATE could not reach Del Popolo for comment in time for publication…
