Stonestown Galleria reopens after S.F. police investigate threats that prompted evacuations

San Francisco police evacuated Stonestown Galleria on Wednesday after someone called non-emergency dispatch and made threats against the shopping center, authorities said.

The call came in at about 11:40 a.m. and officers responded to the mall near Buckingham Way and Winston Drive and worked with the property manager to investigate the threat, police public information officer Robert Rueca said in a statement. Stonestown Galleria is a shopping center near San Francisco State University.

The mall was evacuated, and traffic in the area was rerouted during the investigation, police said. Rueca said additional SFPD K-9 units and the bomb squad searched the mall’s buildings and the surrounding area. Officers from San Francisco State University police and the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office also assisted, he said.
