💐 New Law Opens More Flower Stand Permits in San Francisco

San Francisco is making it easier for local businesses to bring back the city’s iconic flower stands. Mayor Daniel Lurie has signed new legislation that updates the city’s Sidewalk Flower Stand permit program, the first major change since 1976. The new rules open permits to any licensed San Francisco business that meets city tax and business requirements, ending the old family-only transfer rule that left many stands vacant.

Public Works and the Office of Small Business will work together to find new vendors, especially in the downtown corridor, where many stands once thrived. At least 75% of items sold must still be flowers or plants, keeping the focus on floriculture.
