A California Highway Patrol vehicle was hit on I-280 southbound near Alemany Boulevard in San Francisco while officers were performing traffic control. The patrol car had its emergency and hazard lights on when a Kia Soul traveling at unsafe speed lost control, hit the CHP car, and overturned after leaving 575 feet of tire marks. Drivers are reminded to follow California’s Move Over, Slow Down Law, which requires slowing down or changing lanes for stopped emergency and maintenance vehicles, and after January 1, 2026, will also apply to all stopped or disabled passenger vehicles on highways.
