Telegraph Ave Nightmare: Hercules Man Charged In Oakland Club Shooting That Hit Patron Five Times

What started as a night out near Oakland’s historic Telegraph Avenue turned into a near-fatal ordeal, and now a 21-year-old man from Hercules is facing serious felony charges. Prosecutors have charged him in connection with a Dec. 21, 2025, shooting that left a club patron hit five times outside a nightclub on the 1800 block of Telegraph Avenue in Oakland. Court records say the defendant is facing attempted murder, assault and weapons counts and is scheduled to enter a plea on Thursday. The victim survived and later told detectives he did not recognize the men who attacked him. Bail has been set at $250,000, according to court filings.

According to court documents cited by The Mercury News, the suspect is identified as 21-year-old Kearee Captain of Hercules. A witness allegedly picked Captain out after recognizing him on Instagram, then again in a photo lineup. The filings state that Captain and another man walked up to the patron outside the club and opened fire, hitting him five times before fleeing.
