Bay Area TV station’s chief meteorologist announces departure

Paul Heggen, the chief meteorologist at KPIX-TV, has announced his departure from the station. Heggen, who has worked at KPIX-TV for six years, has won several regional Emmy Awards for his work.

Heggen gave his final newscast on Friday night. To commemorate his tenure at KPIX-TV, his colleagues aired a brief segment celebrating his career, a highlight reel of his dry jokes, professional achievements and on-air dog-walking segments.

Heggen joined KPIX-TV in 2020. The meteorologist grew up in South St. Paul, Minnesota, and received his master’s degree in meteorology from Texas A&M University.
