A man suspected in the violent carjacking of a 68-year-old man in Santa Rosa was arrested Friday after a witness provided police with a detailed description of him, police said.
Shawn Lopez, of San Francisco, was identified as the suspect in the carjacking, which was reported at about 8:14 a.m. Friday near Brookwood Avenue and 3rd Street. When officers arrived, they found the 68-year-old victim suffering from a head injury. The victim told police the suspect struck him in the head and took his car keys, then got into the driver’s seat and drove off. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.
