SAN FRANCISCO (KSEE) – The leading candidates in the race to become the next governor of California squared off against each other in the KRON4 studios in San Francisco on Wednesday, each of them detailing what they would do if they replaced outgoing Governor Gavin Newsom.
The 90-minute debate included two Republican candidates and four Democrats. Former Fox News commentator Steve Hilton and Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco were the Republicans; on the other side were billionaire activist Tom Steyer, former U.S. health and human services secretary Xavier Becerra, former U.S. representative Katie Porter, and Mayor of San Jose Matt Mahan as the Democrats.
